Residential Care

We provide help with paying for care in the community and residential care, whilst making sure you get all the benefits you may be entitled to.
  We offer
  • Advice to Customers and relatives or their representative
  • Help completing the financial forms
  • Help with applying for other benefits
  • Calculating assessments for care at home and residential care.
You will be assessed for your stay in residential care by having a financial assessment.  This will take into account specified income, capital and savings. It will also depend on whether your placement is permanent or not.

You will be notified of your charge in writing with a copy of the financial assessment, showing how your charge has been calculated.  You should pay your charges directly to the Care Home.

If you are a homeowner and go into a care home permanently a legal charge will be put against your property. When it is sold Blackpool Council will recoup the monies  paid for your stay.

There are a few exceptions to this. For example, if your spouse lives there, a child under the age of 16 lives there who you are financially responsible for, a relative who is aged 60 or over or a relative in receipt of certain disability benefits.

If you disagree with how your assessment has been calculated you can ask us to look at your details again.

If you need any more information about residential care please contact us.
