Residential Care for Children

Residential Care for Children Our Children's homes provide medium to long-term care for children and young people whose families live within Blackpool's boundaries .

We also provide long-term and short term respite care for children with disabilities and special needs.

We support and meet the needs of each child on an individual basis by providing a range of activities for them and will try to accommodate any special interests that they may have.

When your child comes to live in Residential Care we will try to maintain any hobbies/ activities they are already taking part in.

To obtain a placement, your child needs a referral from their Social Worker.   All placements are planned and we are not able to accept emergency cases.

Your child can stay in a Childrens Home up to the day before their 17th birthday, providing their needs are still being met.  Reviews are carried out on a six monthly basis by a reviewing officer based at Blackpool Council.

You will be invited to regular meetings when all aspects of your child's care and future plans will be discussed. You will also receive a monthly report from your child's Key Worker to update you between review meetings.

You can visit your child at any time providing there is no legal reason that would prevent this. You can be involved in all aspects of your child's care and you can discuss this with your child's Key Worker who is there to support your child.
