Blackpool Is 30 Or Less
Are you concerned about speeding in your area?
Do you want to do something positive about it?
Pledge to keep to the speed limit! The Blackpool is 30 or less campaign aims to slow vehicles down on Blackpool’s roads to create and safer environment for all road users. Slowing traffic on Blackpool’s roads without the need for physical barriers, could help make Blackpool a more relaxed place to live, making it safer for children and adults to walk and cycle and creating a stronger sense of community. But we need your help to do it!
All but three roads in Blackpool have a 30mph speed limit or less. When people sign up to the Blackpool is 30 or less campaign they are pledging to keep to the speed limit within the town. The vehicle they are driving then becomes a ‘mobile speed hump’ slowing traffic to the speed limit and setting an example to other drivers. As a result traffic is calmed in Blackpool as a whole and the number of people killed and injured decreases.
Blackpool Council’s Travel and Road Safety team ask drivers in the town to sign the 30 or less pledge. In signing the pledge you agree to drive at all times within the speed limit.
Since the 30 or less campaign started in 2003 around 2000 people have pledged to keep to the speed limits in Blackpool and support is growing all the time.
