Blackpool Councils winter maintenance programme starts on 1st November and operates until 31st March each year.
Reports from road sensors across the Borough and Lancashire are fed into a data programme which predicts road conditions for the next 24 hours.
The conditions predicted by the programme act as a trigger as to whether the Council should deploy gritting vehicles. If conditions warrant it, snow plough equipment will also be deployed.
Principal roads are treated, this includes most bus routes and other local black spots. |
