STARS (Socialisation Through Active Recreation and Sports) is a play and youth scheme for children aged between 8 and 17, who have profound disabilities and are on the planning record for Children with Disabilities.
Four week programmes are run through the summer and children take part in such activities as: Tai Chi, Line Dancing, Circus Skills and Trampolining. There are also trips out to places of fun and interest.
All staff attend a nationally endorsed training programme and many of them have worked for STARS for some time and are familiar with all the children and their various disabilities and special needs.
There is a nominal £10.00 registration fee for the scheme.
Children are referred by Social Services (Children with Disabilities team).
