Salisbury Woodland

Salisbury Woodland Salisbury Woodland is Blackpool's only amenity woodland and is one of the town's most important ecological sites. It was designated a County Biological Heritage Site in 1993 for its epiphytic flora (moss, fungi, liverwort and lichen) populations. The woodland was once underused and neglected with a poor public reputation due to anti-social behaviour. However, all that changed in 2005 when Blackpool Council's Ranger Service took over responsibility of the site and was tasked to undertake a sensitive restoration. The site has been renovated through a partnership approach led by the Rangers and numerous volunteer groups. The commitment of the people who have worked on this site has been exemplary. The site is now a beautiful Green Flag Award and Blackpool Civic Trust award winning green space, which is popular for wildlife study, environmental education and quiet recreation.

The Parks Events Programme is availible between April and October, please pick up your copy in the Stanley Park Visitors Centre or on the publications page. In additon to the events programme the Ranger Service will be carrying out several walks this winter (Nov-Feb) to learn all about Long Eared Owls - you might even spot one of these elusive birds! See the publications section on the right for further details.
