Does the Sensory Support Service provide specialist teaching and support?
Specialist teaching and support is available to children and pupils who are either hearing and/or visually impaired.
Specialist teaching is available for:
- pre-school children
- children attending maintained or non-maintained nurseries
- pupils in mainstream schools
- pupils in special schools
- students in Further Education by appointment
We also provide advice on and provision of a range of educational communication approaches and technical aids to support access to the curriculum including:
- oral / aural
- BSL (British Sign Language)
- SSE (Sign Support English) and Total Communications methods
- personal hearing aids
- radio hearing aids
- auditory trainers
- low vision aids
- braille
- modified material
- mobility
- habilitation
