Services at Home

Personal care services aim to help you to maintain your independence. Depending on your circumstances you can receive social care for a few weeks (for example – following a spell in hospital) or for a longer time if you are living with a long term condition. This page gives you an overview of the types of services there are in Blackpool. For more information about which services would best meet your needs contact Social Services Direct. Their details are on the right hand side of this page.

 

Care at Home – These services provides care to you in your own home. Carers from the Council, or our approved partners, will help you with daily living tasks such as getting in and out of bed, washing, dressing, and help to prepare a meal. We want to help you to keep your independence, skills and confidence.

 

Equipment for daily livingSometimes the simplest piece of equipment can make a great difference to the way we live our lives If you are having problems with everyday tasks, answer the simple questions in AskSARA for tips on how you can make things easier to do and equipment that may be helpful. If you are considering an expensive piece of equipment (such as a stair lift) or making alterations to your home (for example building an extension or installing a level access shower) you can ask for an occupational therapist to visit you. They will talk to you about what you can and cannot do and recommend the right equipment or changes to your home to make your life easier. You can ask for a referral through your Doctor or contact Social Services Direct. You may be eligible for a Disabled Facilities Grant to help you with the cost.

 

Meals at Home – if you are housebound or find it difficult to prepare a meal for yourself there are a number of providers who can deliver meals to your home. Click here to down load a list of local providers.

 

Cleaning and Shopping Services - Social Services only offer cleaning and shopping services as part of an overall support service. If you want to arrange for a cleaner or have someone do your shopping, click here for a list of local providers.AgeUK run a local shopping service.

 

Vitaline and TelehealthVitaline offers a 24 hr link to a Blackpool based call centre, so in an emergency, if you fall or sudden illness or if you need help or support for any reason our professional team is just a phone call away.
