Introduction
The Draft Blackpool Town Centre Strategy has been approved by the Council for public consultation. It sets out a detailed framework for the future management and implementation of the Council’s strategy for Blackpool Town Centre. This is a consultation document and the Council welcomes your views on the draft vision, supporting objectives and key actions set out.
The Town Centre Strategy will be a supporting document to both the Sustainable Community Strategy and the emerging Core Strategy. The document:
- Establishes a draft vision for where we wish the town centre to be in 10 to 20 years time and defines six objectives to achieve this vision;
- Sets out main themes to guide growth and development, and identifies key actions, key partners and appropriate timescales for delivery; and
- Presents a distinctive strategy for future development and improvement of individual areas of the town.
Consultation
We are keen to hear your views on the Draft Blackpool Town Centre Strategy. Formal consultation on this document will take place for eight weeks between Thursday 20th May and Friday 16th July 2010.

How to Comment
We cannot stress how important it is that you let us know your opinions and ideas. The Council needs input from businesses, Fylde Coast residents and visitors to get its Plans for the town centre right. There are 3 main ways by which you can make comments on the Draft Blackpool Town Centre Strategy:
- Make comments directly on the Council’s on-line consultation version of the document using this link
- Downloading and completing a copy of the “Comments Form” from this link
- Using the Comments Form available direct from Council Offices and libraries.

What Happens Next
The Council will consider all comments received during this consultation when preparing the final document, and will publish a consultation statement setting out its response and indicating how they have influenced the process of developing a Town Centre Strategy. We expect the Final Town Centre Strategy to be prepared by Autumn 2010. |
