Town Twinning

A Twinning link is usually defined as a friendship agreement involving cooperation between two communities in different countries, endorsed by both Local Authorities.

Blackpool is "twinned" with Bottrop, Germany, which has a similar size of population and lies on the edge of the industrial Rhur region.

This twinning link offers wide scope for contacts between the leisure, recreational, cultural and school groups of the two towns, and this is evidenced by the many exchanges which are carried out annually.

Stadtepartnerschaft

Blackpool ist Partnerstadt der deutschen Stadt Bottrop. Bottrop liegt am Rande des Ruhrgebietes und hat ungefehr gleich viele Einwohner wie Blackpool.

Die Partnerschaft ermoglicht den Kontakt zwischen den verschiedensten Vereinen, Schulen und kulturellen Einrichtungen aus beiden Stadten, was durch zahlreiche Austauschbesuche jedes Jahr bestatigt wird.
