Traders and Businesses

Please note: With effect from Monday 16th January 2012, Trading Standards will be moving from Albert Road to new offices at Progress House. Progress House is located next to the Clifton Retail Park on Clifton Road. From Monday 23rd January 2012, Blackpool residents and businesses are welcome to come in for face to face meetings or advice at Progress House or at Customer First in the Town Centre, where we have an advice surgery on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 9 and 1, and on Saturdays between 10 and 1. Our contact telephone and fax numbers remain the same.

Trading Standards enforce a wide range of legislation with the aim of ensuring fairer and more positive outcomes for consumers and business alike. By the prevention of  under-age sales, illegal trading practices, doorstep crime and the proliferation of unsafe or counterfeit goods, legitimate businesses can be allowed to prosper within a fairer and more equitable marketplace.

To ensure you stay on the right side of the law (and also receive a fair deal yourself), Trading Standards are here to help you. Whether its information about your legal obligations, or help with a specific situation, these pages contain a comprehensive list of topics to help you find out exactly what you need to know. For information relating to what you sell, or the way in which you sell it, refer to our Business Advice Leaflets. For anything not covered here, or for more individual advice, please feel free to give us a call on 478375.

For all Blackpool businesses and traders we strongly recommend you subscribe to our Business Support Network. Membership is free and you can benefit from a range of services we offer. Another great resource at your disposal is ERWIN - Everything Regulation Whenever It's Needed.

And finally, make sure you regularly check out our Latest News page. It contains topical and up to date information concerning local scams, new legislation, relevant campaigns and helpful resources to benefit you and your business.
