Urban Design

Urban Design Urban Design is the physical, visual and functional relationships between buildings, streets and spaces and how these can be combined to create distinctive, dynamic and safe environments where people want to live, work and spend their leisure time. In Blackpool, this also includes making sure that resort regeneration proposals challenge and exceed visitor expectations in ways that capture and reflect Blackpool’s tradition for innovation, fun and ambition for the 21st Century.

Urban design is a partnership process. It provides a framework for user communities and those responsible for the appearance, function and management of the built environment to recognise the value of good design and to share objectives and resources to achieve common goals.
Continuous communication from the start is a corner-stone to effective urban design.
Quality is the over-arching objective in all areas of urban design activity. It is a combination of individual objectives that need to be thought about if the overall quality of development is to be good.
