The Audit Commission rated Blackpool as a “three star” Council and one that is improving strongly,
You may ask why we want to fix what doesn’t need mending?
Because good is not good enough for us or our residents. Only when we are excellent will we begin to take stock of what we have achieved and then we will probably want to be even better.
We are well on the way to meeting this goal and we now want the right people to join our highly skilled, motivated and dedicated workforce to get us there…...and then go the extra mile.
The Council’s vision is that Blackpool will be a vibrant, inclusive, safe, healthy and prosperous town and has three key goals to support this:
- The New Blackpool – moving towards a ‘world-class resort destination: a great place to visit, a better place to live’.”
- Quality Services – to deliver services, which are high quality, effective and offer value for money. In particular prioritising services which deal with our young people and those protecting our most vulnerable
- Community involvement – consulting and engaging local communities to increase the capacity to influence local policies.
Underpinning each of these goals are crosscutting organisational improvements, which are essential to delivering priorities contained within each goal, these include
- Customer first initiative
- Workforce Development
- Performance Management
- Effective Use of Resources
In doing the Council is striving to provide excellent accessible services to all our communities.
These are spelt out in more detail in our Community Plan and Corporate Performance Plan which are available by using this link.
