Carers Information Boards Volunteer Role Description
Outline
Updating notice boards across the town in public buildings such as libraries and health centres with information for carers.
Responsible to the Voluntary Services Officer (VSO)
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- to liase with the VSO about collecting leaflets and posters
- prepare leaflets ready to distribute
- update information boards
- keep a record of boards and inform the VSO of repairs/maintenance needed.
Volunteers are expected to make every effort to:
- take part in induction
- attend training and volunteer support meetings
- meet with the VSO for reviews to talk about how you are getting on
- maintain awareness of other services to support carers with our help.
Skills and Experience
Good organisation and communication skills are needed.
Previous experience working with the public is helpful.
It would be useful for volunteers to have access to a car.
This role also involves moving and handling and in some cases walking some distance. Therefore volunteers must be aware of this.
Training, Support and Expenses
Volunteers receive on-going support through monthly meetings and social activities. Opportunities to meet on a one-to-one basis are also given. Training is offered and further arrangements can be made to meet personal needs. Out-of-pocket expenses can be claimed back including travel expenses.
Time Commitment
Boards are updated every 6-8 weeks. The time taken varies from a half day to 1-2 days dependent on the area.
