Bikability in February half term

Blackpool Council is encouraging all children in need of a little bit of confidence when cycling on the road to take part in a free cycle training course this February half term.

Bikeability courses will provide attendees with the knowledge to cycle safely and equip them with riding techniques, enabling them to cycle confidently on the roads.

The one day course will run from 9.30am – 3.30pm, on Wednesday 15 February, at Palatine Leisure Centre on St. Annes Road.

All Blackpool children, aged 9-16, are welcome to join, free of charge. Children must be able to ride a bike and wear a helmet. There are a limited number of bikes/helmets for loan.

Attendees will need to book on the course and fill in a consent form that they bring with them on the day.

Children aged 9 - 16 are welcome to attend on their own with a signed parent consent form. Alternatively, parents are welcome to do the course with their child.

The course is free. Attendees should bring a packed lunch, drink and wear warm clothing. Cycle helmets can be provided.

To book your place and to request a consent form email Blackpool Council’s Travel and Road Safety Team on cycling@blackpool.gov.uk or call 01253 47 6261.
