Postal voters in Blackpool are being asked to supply a refreshed signature, if they wish to continue to vote by post.
Around 10,500 postal voters originally completed their postal vote application form more than 5 years ago and those people will shortly be sent a letter and form requesting a refreshed new signature.
The letter and refresher forms will be sent out week commencing 30 January 2012, with reminders to be sent out week commencing 20 February 2012.
Electors must respond by supplying a new signature on the attached form by no later than 12 March 2012 or their postal vote will be cancelled.
If an elector is unable to provide a refreshed signature due to medical reasons then a signature waiver can be arranged by contacting Electoral Services.
Electors are able to request a new postal vote application form to re-apply at any time.
The law states that if electors do not reply by 21 February 2012 a reminder letter and form must be sent out. Therefore to keep costs to a minimum and to help reduce costs to the Council electors are requested to send their refreshers forms back using the prepaid envelope as soon as possible.
