Blackpool’s Public Rights of Way (PROWs) run through rural and semi-rural areas, connecting into Fylde and Wyre boroughs, facilitating countryside access, and link communities to leisure opportunities and walking and cycling routes.
PROWs are managed under the Countryside Rights of Way Act 2000 (CROW), which expanded countryside access. PROW requirements are contained within Part 2: Public Rights of Way and Road Traffic, designed to help manage PROWs.
There are currently 47 PROWs within the Borough area with a total length of 12 Km. These are concentrated:
• Around and south of the current Blackpool College site • Around the Carleton cemetery • East of Stanley Park towards Staining and around Marton Mere • Within the Marton Moss area, towards the southern Borough boundary
