Community based volunteers

Our community based volunteering activities (The Langdale community volunteers) are established across the town. Working with our partners, the volunteers contribute within parks, woodlands, libraries, cemeteries, schools and residential areas.

The volunteers work with and alongside others, developing new skills, and will have the opportunity to develop new friendships, improve health and wellbeing as well as all the benefits that a positive contribution within our communities brings. Being a volunteer enables a person to participate on a project and enjoy creative forms of training and personal development.

Our community cafes that are based at Anchorsholme Library and Carleton Crematorium offer opportunities for people to contribute and further develop catering skills. Working in partnership with other council providers the service aims to provide the best possible training as well as the best possible service to those accessing these fantastic cafes.

Eligibility

The service is for adults with a learning disability. A social worker referral will be required to access the New Langdale service; once the service receives the referral the day services manager will make contact to discuss in more detail.
