Supported lodgings service
Supported Lodgings Service provides support and accommodation for young people from the age of 16. Hosts provide this service within their own homes. Placements are arranged and back up support and guidance is provided by the supported lodgings service.
Eligibilty
Anyone aged 16 and over referred to the service by Children's Commissioners.
Type of support
The service provided is tailored to the needs and circumstances of the service user.
People are welcomed as "one of the family" and hosts are recruited to reflect the local community.
Plenty of assistance is available to make the placement successful.
Supported lodgings offers a young person:
- A room of their own
- Their own front door key
- Shared use of the house and its facilities
- A safe and welcoming home
- Practical advice and support
- Encouragement to make positive choices
- A host with a sense of humour.
The service is not regulated but uses similar good practice processes as the Shared lives service.
Access to the service is by referral from Children's Commissioners
