Consistency = Results
Do you work hard in the gym but are still falling short of your fitness goals….maybe consistency is the missing piece of the puzzle which will help you get to where you want to be.
Maintaining a regular workout schedule is the best way for the beneficial changes of exercise to occur in your body. It’s takes several weeks for new muscle fibres to grow and new capillary's in muscles to develop; the less consistent you are with your exercise plan, the longer this will take.
Become a regular class goer
Use the class timetable to keep you on track; commit to attending the same class 2 or 3 times per week. Not only will you be building endurance and getting better at that activity, you’ll also become part of a little community who will keep each other motivated.
Early morning exercise will kick start your metabolism and energise you for the day ahead. If that’s not a good enough reason, then think about all the things that could crop up during the day to make it harder for you to fit in exercise, by fitting it in first thing, you’ll be more likely to do it.
Don’t forget to rest
Don’t forget that fitness is not about abusing your body, it’s about taking care of it. Diving straight in to an intense workout schedule can leave you feeling worn out and will quickly become demotivating; factor rest days into your programme to give yourself time to recover and ensure you’re ready for action again.
Whether it’s a class or fitness instructor, receptionist or a fellow member, by getting to know them you will become more accountable for your workout. When you know that if you start slipping with your attendance, they will notice, you’ll think twice about missing a session.
Announce you intentions
So you have a workout plan in place and are resolved to stick to it...now tell people. Tell you partner, your friends, even you work colleagues what your plans are, your attendance and progress can be a topic of conversation keeping it present in your mind...you never know, they might even want to join you.
