Water butt request terms and conditions

Eligibility

1.1 The program is open to residents who meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a homeowner or have the permission of the landlord of the property where the water butt will be installed
  • Must be the legal occupant of the property and provide proof of residency upon request
  • Must be a resident within Blackpool
  • Must be at least 18 years old or have obtained legal consent from a parent or guardian

Application process

2.1 Only one water butt can be applied for per property. Duplicate applications for the same property will be considered void.

2.2 Applicants must complete and submit the official application form provided online.

2.3 All information provided in the application must be accurate, complete, and up to date.

Water butt installation and operation

3.1 Once an application is approved, Blackpool Council will share contact information with ENVECO who will deliver the water butts on behalf of the council.

3.2 The applicant agrees to cooperate with Blackpool Council and ENVECO during the delivery process. Water butts will be delivered to the front of the applicant’s property, therefore the applicant should ensure there is a suitable space for the water butt to be stored before use.

3.3 The applicant will be responsible for ensuring a suitable location for the water butt installation at the property.

3.4 The water butt must be operated and maintained according to the manufacturer's instructions.

3.5 The applicant agrees to use the water butt solely for the collection and storage of rainwater and in accordance with any applicable laws and regulations.

3.6 The applicant will be responsible for the installation of the water butt, should additional assistance be required the applicant will have registered this on the application. Should installation assistance be required contact information shall be shared with the volunteer installers to arrange a suitable time for installation.

Ownership and liability

4.1 The water butt provided through the Program will be the property of the applicant.

4.2 The applicant agrees to assume responsibility for the water butt's care, maintenance, and safe use once installed.

4.3 Blackpool Council shall not be liable for any damages, losses, or injuries arising from the installation, operation, or maintenance of the water butt.

Termination and modification

5.1 Blackpool Council reserves the right to terminate or modify the Program at any time without prior notice.

5.2 Blackpool Council may disqualify any applicant who fails to comply with these terms or provides false or misleading information.

5.3 In the event of termination or disqualification, Blackpool Council may reclaim the water butt provided to the applicant.

Privacy and data protection

6.1 Blackpool Council will collect and process personal information provided by the applicant in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

6.2 The personal information collected will be used solely for the purpose of administering the Program and will not be shared with third parties without consent, except as required by law.

By participating in the program, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these terms.
