Key terms explained:

Petition notices

These are the equivalent of poll cards at elections and referendums.

They confirm detailed information about the petition including the address of the signing place allotted to the elector and the days and hours during which the petition will be available for signing at that place

Signing places

These are the equivalent of the polling stations at elections and referendums.

They are places where the recall petition will be made available for eligible electors to sign, in a similar way electors vote in polling stations

Signing sheets

These are the equivalent of ballot papers at elections and referendums

Postal signing packs

These are the equivalent of postal votes at elections and referendums

Petition clerks and assistants

These are the equivalent of polling station staff at elections and referendums, who attend the signing place.

They control admission to the signing place, the signing procedure, check photographic ID and issue signing sheets to those who request one and are eligible
