Football in Blackpool has seen a significant growth, with a particular increase in youth teams, and recent data shows that since 2019, 80 new teams have been set up across Blackpool, which led to the need for refurbishment.

The refurbishment includes a brand new, state-of-the art floodlit 3G football pitch, which will provide opportunities for the Blackpool community to engage in grassroots sports, encouraging members of the community to develop an active lifestyle.

Cllr Jane Hugo, Blackpool Council, Cabinet Member with responsibilities for parks and green environment said:

“We're excited to unveil the newly refurbished 3G pitch at Stanley Park, an investment that promises to bring more families and sports enthusiasts into the heart of our award-winning park. “This investment isn't just about sports; it's about creating opportunities for everyone in Blackpool, regardless of age or ability, to engage in outdoor activities and sports. We're committed to providing safe spaces that encourage participation in football and other outdoor-based sports, promoting physical and mental well-being within our community. “By offering these facilities, we aim to empower our town's sports community and provide a platform for individuals to maintain active and healthy lifestyles. Engaging in physical activities outdoors has a profound impact on both physical and mental health, and we're delighted that more members of our community will have the chance to experience these benefits first hand.”
