Evolution Construction is expanding its team, recruiting seven new employees - five electricians, a planner, and an Electrical Quality Supervisor – thanks to a new contract with Blackpool Council’s social housing provider Blackpool Coastal Housing (BCH).

The company will be responsible for delivering electrical safety, maintenance and improvement works for approximately 4,800 BCH homes across Blackpool and the Fylde coast from 1 April 2026.

Evolution has also committed to an extensive programme of social value work as part of the contract win. This will include career inspiration sessions and an increased number of work experience placements for young people, plus DIY and home maintenance training for care leavers, as well as hundreds of hours of volunteering time and annual fundraising events for local charities.

Jamie Weston, Blackpool Coastal Housing’s Interim Director of Asset Management, said:

“We always aim to use local companies if we can and we are delighted to award a growing Blackpool company the contract. The company has a strong track record of partnership including working with local authorities and social housing providers. We have ourselves already worked with Evolution for a number of years. “We also ask our suppliers to make commitments on social value. Evolution demonstrated that it can create positive social impact across the communities it serves, and we are really looking forward to seeing the benefits of their initiatives and projects in our local communities.”

“This is yet another example of how public sector contracts and the many regeneration projects that we see across our town can add important economic and social benefits for local areas. The creation of new jobs, work experience and contributions to local charities will help so many people.”

The win is one of the largest single contracts secured by Evolution Construction since it started as a one-man band in 2012. It now employs more than 80 people and the contract is seen as a huge milestone for the company and its ambitions to continue to grow from its Blackpool home.

JJ Fitzgerald, Evolution Managing Director, said:

“Our team consistently delivers the highest standards, and we are proud that this has been recognised by such a major public sector organisation as Blackpool Coastal Housing. “We are very excited to be working in partnership with the housing organisation to provide a service which will improve the lives of many people across the Blackpool and Fylde Coast areas. It will allow us to create career opportunities and more work experience placements for college or school leavers and unemployed residents, which is something that we are really passionate about supporting.”
