Free courses for Blackpool Residents

Blackpool Council’s Blackpool Learning Rooms, based at The Place in the town centre, is inviting residents to boost their skills and confidence in 2026 with a wide range of free or low-cost adult courses.

Whether you’re seeking digital confidence, fundamental skills, career progression, or personal wellbeing, Blackpool Learning Rooms offers a packed schedule of adult courses that are designed to help you move forward.

Courses are available to anyone aged 19 or over, with learning delivered predominantly from two local venues:

  • The Place, Clifton Street, Blackpool town centre
  • Palatine Library, South Shore

Courses can also be delivered in your communities at a suitable venue of your choice

What’s on offer?

ICT and digital skills

Perfect for beginners or those wanting to keep up with today’s digital world. Courses include:

  • Staying safe online
  • Using communication platforms
  • Information handling

English and maths

Learners can build confidence in reading, writing, numeracy, and problem solving in a supportive, approachable environment. Work towards a recognised qualification at your own pace.

Health and wellbeing

Designed to help residents improve their mental and physical wellness, with courses such as:

  • Relaxation techniques
  • Stress management
  • Healthy living

Employability and life skills

For those preparing to start or return to work, these courses are ideal for building confidence and practical skills. Topics include:

  • CV writing
  • Interview practice
  • Job search skills
  • Workplace expectations

Blackpool Learning Rooms also works closely with Jobcentre Plus to provide employability courses designed to support residents who are seeking work.

Cookery

Learners can explore budget-friendly recipes that promote wellbeing through cooking.

  • Food safety
  • Cooking basics

Family learning

Delivered in Blackpool schools and community venues, Family Learning supports parents to become more active in their children’s learning. Parents develop their skills and confidence to support their children and families have fun whilst learning together.
