Arranging your citizenship ceremony
You will receive an invitation from the Home Office. Once you have received this you will be able to book your ceremony
In order to arrange a ceremony please email us at ceremonies@blackpool.gov.uk and include your Home Office number, name and phone number. You can also provide the number of guests who you would like to attend to witness your ceremony, you may bring up to 4 guests
Blackpool holds a free public group ceremony once a month.
- They take place at Blackpool Town Hall, Talbot Square, Blackpool or The Wedding Chapel, Promenade, Blackpool
- Children under 18 years old do not have to attend a ceremony but are encouraged to
The ceremony
On the day of the ceremony please bring a valid photo ID (eg passport or driving licence) and your Home Office invitation letter or email.
During the ceremony you will:
- Swear or affirm an oath of allegiance to The Crown and make a pledge to uphold UK values and laws
- Be presented with a certificate of British citizenship
Private ceremonies
If you would prefer to have an individual ceremony we can arrange this for you at The Wedding Chapel. There is a charge of £110 for this service, the days and times that we are able to offer are dependent on availability.
Certificate of naturalisation
Your certificate is sent to us directly by The Home Office. If there is a mistake on the certificate you will need to contact them directly to amend this. You should explain the mistake and enclose evidence to support what you say.
The Home Office usually wants to see official documents as evidence. If the mistake is yours, they may not be able to change it.
