Individual placement and support

Individual placement and support (IPS service) is a free and confidential employment service open to individuals aged 16+ providing employment support for people with severe mental health conditions within Lancashire and South Cumbria.

We''re here to help you get back into employment or retain your current employment as part of your recovery. We will help you find a job to suit your preferences and interests. 

Unlike general employment schemes, we're the only service designed specifically for people with severe mental illness (SMI) and we have a proven track record of helping people gain and stay in work.

Support

Getting back or staying in work can be an important part of your receovery. We can offer you:

  • One-to-one support from trainedemployment specialists
  • Help finding suitable and sustainable,paid work
  • Support with CV writing, job applicationsand interviews
  • Support to help you stay in your current job
  • Guidance on managing mental health at work
  • Continued support once you’re in a job
  • Access to benefits advice and workplace adjustments

You’ll receive tailored, one‑to‑one support for 12 to 18 months, and longer if needed, because we understand that finding the right role and feeling ready to work takes time, care and flexibility.
