Where a child is permanently excluded from school:
- The council must arrange suitable full‑time education from the sixth school day following exclusion
- A separate permanent exclusion process applies
- Schools must complete the required exclusion notification on the day the decision is made
- Alternative provision will be arranged in line with statutory guidance
Permanent exclusion arrangements are distinct from illness or ‘otherwise’ Section 19 requests.
