Tracking young people's destinations

Every local authority has a statutory duty to track young people’s destinations after they leave school when they are 16 to 18 years old and up to 25 for young people with education, health and care plans (EHCP).

A destination is where the young person has gone after school this could be college, employment, an apprenticeship, or they could be Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET).

Tracking this information ensures the local authority can:

  • Encourage, enable and assist young people to participate in education or training under the Raising of participation age (RPA) agenda
  • Work with partners (including schools, training providers, colleges and employers) to ensure that there is sufficient suitable education and training provision for all 16 to 18-year-olds (up to age 25 with an education, health and care plan), and to ensure that school leavers (year 11 and year 12) have a suitable offer of a place in learning that leads to a recognised qualification

Therefore, your cooperation in sending us the correct information is much appreciated.

The council is committed to meeting its data protection obligations and handling your information securely. For more information please read our privacy statement which sets out what you need to know about how Blackpool Council will use your information in the course of our work
