This provides you with essential information on the process of applying for a school/academy, and the criteria that is used to allocate places.
The online admissions for the secondary school year starting September 2018 has now closed.
The closing date for secondary applications was the 31 October 2017. If you have missed the deadline you should complete a paper application which is available from the Blackpool Council school admissions team, telephone 01253 476637.
An application submitted after the closing date will be classed as late.
If you applied online, you will receive an email with details of the school that has been offered on Thursday 1 March 2018. You will also be able to view your offer through this link.
Guidance and information
St George's School, a Church of England Academy
If you are applying for St George's School, a Church of England Academy, on faith grounds, you must complete a supplementary information form which is available from the school. The form must be returned to the school.
St Mary's Catholic Academy
If you are applying for St Mary's Catholic Academy on faith grounds, you are required to provide the Academy with a copy of your child's baptismal certificate.
Voluntary Aided schools outside of Blackpool
If you are applying for a Voluntary Aided School that is outside Blackpool, you must complete a supplementary form which is available from the school, and provide a copy of your child's baptismal certificate - if required. The supplementary form and baptismal certificate must be submitted to the school before the closing date.
If you move house once you have submitted your application, you will need to provide proof of your new address to the Blackpool School Admissions Team as soon as possible.
Applying for an independent or special school
If you are applying for an independent (fee paying) school, you must apply directly to the school. If your child needs to access a place at a special school, this will be arranged by the SEN Team.
Closing date, national offer date and late applications
The closing date for applications was 31 October 2017.
You must submit your online or paper application by this date. Applications received after this date will be treated as a late application and the chances of securing a place at your preferred school are reduced.
The national offer date for secondary school applications is 1 March 2018.
If you applied online, you can access your account for confirmation of your offered school. If you applied on a paper application form, a letter will be posted to you on this date.
