Connexions offers confidential and impartial information, advice and guidance to young people aged 16-19, up to 25 for young people with special educational needs, enabling, empowering and assisting and them into education, employment and training
We:
- Offer impartial information, advice and guidance through our specialist team
- Involve clients fully in decision making and action planning
- Support and develop employability skills
- Look after our client's safety
- Offer support by addressing barriers to young people involved in education, employment and training, including financial, health, offending, teenage pregnancy, family, housing and domestic abuse issues
- Work with families and the public, private and voluntary and community sector to achieve the best possible outcomes for the young person
- Support transition from school to post 16 education, employment and training and keep records to help this
- Advocate on behalf of the young person
- Undertake preventative work with young people who are not in education, employment or training in order to address and support the most vulnerable
- Track young people in order to minimise withdrawal
- Signpost young people to the services they need
- Perform statutory duties in schools and with other public bodies in order to ensure young people’s needs are met
- Provide up to date expertise on the best opportunities for young people and match young people to those opportunities
- In schools, we meet the needs identified by the individual school
