An abandoned vehicle is one 'which appears to have been left without lawful authority'.
This could be the case if it's:
- Stationary for 15 days or more – tyre valve positions could indicate if the vehicle has moved
- Burned out
- Missing both number plates

Before you report an abandoned vehicle, please check
Be aware that we cannot help with:
- Vehicles that are taxed or MOT’d or SORN’d or insured
- Vehicles reported to DVLA for expired tax, please allow DVLA time to resolve
- Vehicles that have a registered keeper
- Vehicles on private land
- Vehicles that have been involved in an accident
- Stolen vehicles
Report an abandoned vehicle
Check to establish if the vehicle is taxed, MOT’d, SORN’d or insured before you contact Environmental Services.You'll need to provide details of:
- Vehicle location
- Vehicle type (car, van, caravan, motorbike)
- Vehicle make and model
- Vehicle colour
- Vehicle registration number
- Your name, address and contact telephone number (in case we need to check any details)
