Dogs on the beach

Blackpool welcomes responsible dog owners. Please help us to keep the seafront a safe and clean place for all residents and visitors.

Dogs must be kept on a lead on the promenade at all times

Blackpool is proud of its award winning clean beaches but we are happy to welcome dogs and they are welcome at over 60% of our beaches.

They are only restricted from our central and south beach areas from May to October.

Beaches where dogs are welcome on a lead

Beaches where dogs are welcome are from

  • The Solaris, Mirror Ball to Squires Gate (South)
  • North Pier – Anchorsholme (North)

We do advise that dogs are exercised on lead and or owners have full control if unleashed.

Beaches where dogs are excluded

Dogs are not allowed on the following beach areas between 1 May and 30 September.

Owners who take their dogs into these areas will be liable to an on-the-spot fine of up to £100, rising up to £1,000 if fined in court.
