Article 4 direction

An Article 4 Direction was introduced on the 1st of June 2020 for Raikes Hall to help control development by removing permitted development rights for works of alteration and extension to the buildings.

This means that you should seek planning permission for any work which may affect the character and appearance of your property, including:

  • Windows
  • Doors
  • Roof
  • Boundary walls

The direction orders also apply to buildings within the park itself.

Before starting work

You should contact the built heritage and conservation team for advice before starting any works to clarify whether planning permission is required.

Works carried out without the relevant planning permission will be liable to enforcement action.
