Equality and diversity

Blackpool Council is committed to ensuring equality of access and opportunity for the population of Blackpool and providing and improving quality services for all.

We are dedicated to challenging all forms of discrimination and inequality and do not discriminate on the grounds of:

  • Age
  • Race
  • Sex
  • Gender identity
  • Religion
  • Disability
  • Sexual orientation
  • Marriage and Civil Partnership
  • Pregnancy, maternity and breastfeeding

Our equality and diversity manager provides help and advice to council departments to ensure that equality; social inclusion and community cohesion issues are considered in all council policies and procedures.

We also talk to residents, visitors and voluntary and community organisations about equality in Blackpool. We do this through forum groups (e.g. LGBT Strategic Partnership, Faith Forum, Disability Partnership) and through consultations.
