Apply for an auction room registration
Each application is determined on its own merits.
- Complete the application form. The application must be made by the occupier of, or a person proposing to occupy, the premises concerned. In the event of any of the persons referred to in the application being a limited company, the registered office address of the company must be given. The form should be completed by the applicant personally or, if a limited company, by a person duly authorised by the company to make the application. By virtue of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, you may be entitled to disregard certain convictions. You should take appropriate advice if you are in any doubts as to what particulars to give
- Return with the fee as stated on the form (this is a one-off payment)
- Plans should be sent with the application
Following consultation with various departments including the police, applications are referred to the council’s public protection committee for grant or refusal, at which the applicant may attend in person if desired.
Once granted the registration stays in force unless the premises are vacated at which point it will cease to have effect.
Tacit consent
Tacit consent applies. This means that you will be able to act as though your application is granted if you have not heard from us by the end of the target completion period.

Complaints
- Consumer complaint: We would always advise that in the event of a complaint the first contact is made with the trader by you - preferably in the form of a letter (with proof of delivery). If that has not worked, if you are located in the UK, Citizens Advice Consumer Service can give you advice. From outside the UK contact the European Consumer Centre for Services
- Other redress: Complaints about the operation of the premises should be directed to licensing@blackpool.gov.uk
