Social value is how we give back to the local community, creating more benefits for residents.
We secure added benefits that are extra to what's normally delivered by our contracts and services.
What is social value?
Social value is typically split into three areas: community, economy and environment.
The benefits are wide-ranging and come in many forms. Examples of suppliers delivering social value include:
- Employing local people
- Supporting young people into work
- Reducing carbon impact
- Helping community projects or schools
To get the best social value for you, we ask our suppliers to make contractual commitments on social value. We add a 20% weighting to all our contracts, where possible. These are assessed on both the quantity and quality of impact depending on the type of project or service that has been commissioned.
