Blackpool Register Office holds the original records of all the births, marriages and deaths that have been registered within its local authority district since 1 July 1837 up to the present day.
We also hold Civil Partnership records registered in Blackpool since 5 December 2005.
If the event for which you require a certificate took place in Blackpool, then we will hold the record. If the event took place in Fylde or Wyre, then we may or may not hold the record. You can apply for birth, marriage, civil partnership and death certificates from Blackpool Register Office in four ways.
1. Online If you would like to order a certificate using your debit or credit card, you can do it online by clicking here http://www.blackpool.gov.uk/DoItOnline/Payments.htm
and then choosing "Request Birth/Death/Marriage/Civil partnership Certificates."
Please read through the online instructions carefully and make sure we hold the record you require before you order by this method.
2. By phone If you would like to pay using a credit or debit card but you are unsure whether the event took place in Blackpool or you would prefer to speak to a member of staff, then telephone the Register Office on 01253 477 177. We will take your application over the telephone and then call you back the following working day between 9-10am to process your credit or debit card details.
Please note: For certificates ordered and posted out using a debit or credit card, a fee of £1 is payable per transaction, however certificate(s) will be posted out first class. Unfortunately we cannot accept Diners Club or American Express cards.
3. By post You can download application forms for each type of certificate by clicking on the links below, or you can write to us detailing the person's full name, the date of the event and where the event took place. Please enclose payment by postal orders or a cheque made payable to 'Blackpool Council.' Please also enclose a Stamped Addressed Envelope.
4. In person You can apply for certificates in person at the Register Office. If you require a certificate on the same weekday, we can normally accommodate your request provided you have supplied us with a completed application form and payment before 3pm.
We can only issue certificates in this way on a first come first served basis therefore we regret in some cases, we may not be able to accommodate your same-day request but we will try our best to help you. Depending on workload, you may have to wait between half an hour to two hours.
Payments made in person at Blackpool Register Office can be made by Cash,Cheque, Postal Order, Debit or Credit card.
