Selling to the council

We spend in excess of £100 million per year on supplies and services, providing commercial opportunities to businesses of all sizes.

Our objective is to secure the best value for money whilst seeking to create opportunities to help companies and boost employment.

In 2024 new procurement legislation is being implemented which will mean some changes to how goods, works and services are procured within the public sector. You can find out more about the planned changes by visiting The Procurement Act 2023

A series of on-demand, knowledge drop videos have been made available. The Knowledge Drops will provide a useful introduction of the new Procurement Act to suppliers.

The Knowledge Drops for Suppliers are 45 minutes in total and broken down into 3 smaller sections.

  1. KD3: Knowledge Drop for Suppliers part 1
  2. KD3: Knowledge Drop for Suppliers part 2
  3. KD3: Knowledge Drop for Suppliers part 3

There are also knowledge drops aimed specifically at small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community and social enterprises (VCSEs) who deliver contracts to the UK public sector. These can be accessed using the links below:

  1. KD3b: Knowledge Drop for SME/VCSEs part 1
  2. KD3b: Knowledge Drop for SME/VCSEs part 2
  3. KD3b: Knowledge Drop for SME/VCSEs part 3

We use e-tendering as our primary system to manage  tenders and quotations.

Any company wishing to be considered for supplying to us, must register on the e-tendering portal - The Chest.

Suppliers only need to register once and this is free of charge. From here you can also browse our current opportunities
