Personal budgets
Following your assessment we will determine your eligible needs. Blackpool Council will provide you with a personal budget, this is the amount of money Blackpool Council allocates to meet your assessed care needs.
Direct payments
Blackpool Council can arrange services and support on your behalf or you have the option to receive your personal budget as a direct payment, giving you control over arranging your own care.
How to manage direct payments
You can either have the funds paid into a designated bank account or use a managed account (where a payroll company helps with managing the funds).
Flexibility and choice
The aim is to allow you to choose care and support options that best suit your individual needs and lifestyle. This could involve employing a personal assistant or choosing an agency or as a one-off payment to purchase something that would meet your needs.
Support available
The direct payments team at Blackpool Council is there to help you navigate this process. There are already over 500 people in Blackpool using direct payments.
If you would like to know more about direct payments and whether this could be an option for you please contact the direct payments team on 01253 476869 or email dpteam@blackpool.gov.uk
Contribution to costs
There is usually a charge for most council care services, we will offer you a financial assessment and will inform you of the amount you may need to contribute towards the cost of your care.
