The original Town Centre Conservation Area was designated in 1984 and was renamed and extended in 2004 and further extended in 2014.

“Section 71 of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 requires local authorities to formulate and publish proposals for the preservation and enhancement of its conservation areas, and for these proposals to be submitted for consideration at a public meeting.  A meeting to discuss the proposed Town Centre Conservation Area Management Plan will take place at 7 p.m. on 26th September 2022 in the Derham Lounge, Winter Gardens, Blackpool.  This will form part of the general meeting of the Blackpool Civic Trust.  

The Conservation Area Management Plan can also be viewed on the Council’s website and at the Council’s Customer First, Municipal Buildings, Corporation Street, Blackpool between the hours of 9.30am and 5.00 pm, Monday to Friday. A copy is also available to be viewed during its opening hours at the Blackpool Central Library, Queen Street, Blackpool, FY1 1PX. 

The consultation period will be from 22nd September 2022 until 3rd November 2022.
