Signing the petition

Signing the petition is optional.

You can sign the petition if you are registered to vote in the Register of Parliamentary Electors for the Blackpool South Parliamentary constituency before midnight on the day the Speaker of the House of Commons gave notice of the petition (Tuesday 27 February 2024).

You must also be:

  • Aged 18 or over, or will turn 18 before the end of the 6 week signing period

Signing places

Signing the petition is optional. To sign the petition you must go to your allocated signing place. This will be detailed on the petition notice you will receive by post.

Details of the location and opening hours will be displayed on your petition notice.

The designated petition signing places are located at:

  • The Salvation Army, Raikes Parade, Blackpool FY1 4EL
  • Blackpool Sports Centre, West Park Drive, Blackpool FY3 9HQ
  • Revoe Library, Revoe Street, Blackpool FY1 5HN
  • Molyneux Community Centre, Molyneux Drive, Blackpool FY4 3JJ
  • The Solaris Centre, New South Promenade, Blackpool FY4 1RW
  • Bostonway Community Centre, Bostonway, Blackpool FY4 4YQ
  • Tarnside Community Centre, Tarnside (off Langdale Road), Blackpool FY4 4RD
  • Aysgarth Community Centre, Aysgarth Court (off Whernside, Highfield Road), Blackpool FY4 5LX

Signing in person

Signing the petition is optional. To sign the petition you must go to your allocated signing place.

Details of the location and opening hours will be displayed on your petition notice.

You will need to bring an accepted form of photo ID with you.

When you arrive at your allocated signing place a member of staff will:

  1. Ask for your name and address so they can find you on the electoral register
  2. Ask for your photo ID and check if it's accepted and looks like you
  3. If your ID is acceptable, they will give you a signing sheet
  4. Once you have signed the sheet, place it in the ballot box

Signing by post

Signing the petition is optional. If you are already registered as a postal voter, you will receive a signing sheet by post.

The deadline to return your completed signing sheet to the petitions officer is before the end of the signing period, 5.00pm on Monday 22 April 2024.

If you are a registered voter but not  a postal voter you can complete a postal vote application form and submit it to the electoral registration office by 5.00pm on Friday 5 April 2024.

Signing by proxy

Signing the petition is optional. If you won't be able to get to the signing place to sign the petition, you can ask someone you trust to sign for you. This is called signing by proxy and the person signing the petition is referred to as your proxy.

To sign by proxy, you can complete a proxy application form and submit it to the electoral registration office by 5.00pm on Friday 12 April 2024.

Your appointed proxy must shown their own accepted form of ID at the signing place, before they can sign.
