Community climate hub

The community climate hub is a space for the community to come together and rise to the climate challenge. By sharing resources and information and creating the opportunity to connect, we can get closer to becoming a Sustainable Blackpool.

Why take action

If we do not take action against climate change now, the planet will continue to warm, having a huge impact on our lives. Extreme weather events will effect where we live, how food is grown and other services vital to our well-being. As a coastal town Blackpool will be particularly vulnerable to coastal flooding and storm surges. Blackpool, like the rest of the UK will also become more vulnerable to heatwaves. Making reducing the potential impact of climate change on the town an urgent priority.

This means it has never been more important for us to work together as a town to tackle climate change. In order for us to reach town wide net-zero, the whole town needs to become part of the solution. As it requires us all to make some changes as a community, which can create the following benefits for the town:

  •  Closer-knit communities
  •  A more pleasant local environment and increased greenery
  •  Improved physical and mental well-being
  • Reduced isolation and loneliness
  • Helping people save money
  • New employment opportunities
  • Stimulating the local economy

You don't need to be a member of a community group to be a positive part of the solution. You can still be part of the solution through your everyday interactions with people in the community or by signing up as a Sustainable Neighbourhood Ambassador.

We'd love to hear from you
