Benefits and financial support

Many residents, particularly older people, are missing out on valuable benefit payments they are entitled to.

You may be entitled to financial support if you have a disability, are ill, or if you care for someone.

Financial support may also be available if you are unemployed and looking for work, if your earnings are low, if you are bringing up children, or if you are retired.

We can help maximise your income by providing help with claiming benefits.

Types of support

Support is wide-ranging and may cover help with rent, living and caring costs, a reduction on council tax, free school meals, and extra money if you have a disability or health condition.

Support may include:

Our benefits calculator will help you find out what benefits you can claim.

The calculator is free to use, and the details you provide are anonymous.

Before you start, make sure you have information about your savings, income, pensions and existing benefits (for you and your partner).
