Health coaching is a service offered to help create lasting change to improve an individual’s wellbeing and overall health. It is a series of sessions, designed to help individuals work through doable steps and develop their own unique skills needed to build confidence and take control of their own health and wellbeing.
Health coaching helps to increase motivation, confidence, working together to establish realistic healthy behaviors, helping individuals increase greater control in managing health and wellbeing.
What Happens in Health Coaching Sessions?
We begin the journey with a welcome to health coaching session. This it is a fantastic opportunity to get greater insight and understand and explore if this is the right time for you to start your health coaching.
If you decide that health coaching support is right for you then you and your health coach will explore the health coaching commitment and start to identify what is most important to you and your journey will begin.
Within sessions you will work with an accredited health coach to identify what is most important to you in relation to your Health and wellbeing. These sessions can take place over the phone, face to face or take a mixed approach or within a location that supports an individual’s steps or goals.
How Health Coaching can help
Lowering weight or maintaining weight loss.
People may want to lower their weight due to health concerns or simply to feel more comfortable in their body. We would work with a person to find what changes in life-style are realistic and sustainable.
A healthier diet can help manage health conditions and reduce risk of future ill health. We work to identify what the reasons are behind a less healthy diet and work with individuals to realistic healthier alternatives.
More active lifestyle
Increasing activity can help improve quality of life, health, and wellbeing. However some individual face multiple barriers in relation to mobility and confidence due to health conditions that can decrease activity levels. For others day to day
Demands on time or modern living such as desk jobs, increased car use and sedentary leisure activities can contribute to increased levels of inactivity. Health coaching helps individuals to explore this and identify unique ways to increasing activity in their life.
Reducing stress and low mood
Physical and mental health are interlinked, and difficulty in one area can often have an impact on the other. We can help clients identify activities which improve their mental health and wellbeing address barriers to activities.
Managing health conditions
(Diabetes, Cardiovascular Disease, Stroke, Hypertension)
Lifestyle can have a dramatic impact on pre-existing health conditions. Clients who have received health advice for a condition but struggle to integrate this into their life may benefit from health coaching.
