Learning to swim is one of the biggest milestones of your child’s early years, with most of us able to remember the first time we swam independently and the sense of achievement we felt. This is the feeling that awaits your little one as they begin their journey on our Learn 2 Swim programme.
The Active Blackpool swimming lessons run for 50 weeks a year with 2 weeks off over Christmas and New Year.
Active Blackpool offer swimming lessons for all ages and offers parents free access to the most up to date home portal system that allows you to:
- Monitor your child's progress against the national award outcomes
- See badges that have been awarded
- When your child is ready to move up to the next stage you can choose the next class day time and teacher online from the comfort of your own home

Active Blackpool Learn 2 swim school stages 1 to 7
Is your child ready to dive into swimming lessons? The Swim England Learn to Swim Framework (Learn to Swim Stages 1 to 7) is part of the Swim England Learn to Swim Programme. The all inclusive programme which takes the non-swimmer from his or her first splash to developing confidence and competence in the water.
Stages 1 to 7 are suitable for school-age children with no previous swimming experience. If your child has had swimming lessons before, they may join Active Blackpool Learn 2 Swim School at a higher stage. Babies and children under 5 will love our Discovery and Duckling programme.

This stage is for children who are in full time education and have no previous swimming experience. It will teach confidence and independence in the water and, once completed, your child will be awarded the Swim England Learn to Swim Stage 1 Award.

This stage is for children who have completed Stage 1, or have confidence going underwater and can independently float on front and back and regain a standing position. Stage 3
If your child can swim five metres on their front and back unaided, then they’ll need to enrol in our Stage 3 lessons. Here, they’ll be taught towards the end goal of being able to swim unaided for 10 m on both their front and back. They’ll be supported on this journey by being introduced to aquatic breathing and different types of aquatic mobility.

For slightly more advanced children, stage four teaches your child some of the basic swimming techniques, including treading water and swimming underwater. Your child will be working towards being able to swim 50 m unaided on their front and back.

Once your child can swim 50 m on their front and back, then it’s time they enrol in the fifth stage of our learn-to-swim programme. This stage will begin to develop your child’s stroke technique to a higher standard over longer distances whilst incorporating water safety techniques, making them even more confident and safe in and around the water.

Booking swimming lessons
There is no requirement to book for an assessment your child could start lessons today.
If your child already has an Active Blackpool leisure card just call the booking hotline on telephone 01253 478474 to reserve your child's place.
No leisure card - Just visit one of our venues to register for a leisure card and book your swimming lessons at the same time.

Direct Debit
Direct Debit: £24.40 per month
Our kids swimming lessons are superb value for money especially if you choose to pay by direct debit. When your child is signed up to our Learn 2 Swim membership, not only will the place in the swimming lessons be secured they will also receive all of the following completely free
- Free annual swimming membership. Simply swim membership worth £130 per year
- Free access to the Learn 2 home portal. Simply log on to the home portal and check your child's progress
- Free use of SWIMTAG and swimtag swimfit sessions
- Free 2 lessons per year - pay for 48 weeks per year (lessons run for 50 weeks a year)

Advance block payments
Advanced block payments: £61.50 for 10 consecutive weeks lessons
We also offer a flexible payment option:
- Regular advanced payments will need to be made at reception, booking hotline or via the home portal in order to secure your place in the group
- Registration on the home portal will be required to ensure you are sent email reminders when you have 3, 2 and 1 swimming lessons remaining
- At the start time of your last lesson if the top up has not been made your place will no longer be secured and could be taken by another swimmer
